options for private transport in Tuscany

I am going with a group of runners from the US to Florence this summer and one of activities is a race in Pistoia. Our home base will be Florence. We are looking for private transport from Florence to Pistoia early on a Sunday June 30th.

We are not comfortable with the train early in the morning, because when the gun goes off, we need to be on the starting line. Does anyone have recommendations of private transport or company that can provide transport from Florence to Pistoia. The number of people is murky at this time, but we will probably have about 10-20 people. After the event we plan on taking the train back to Florence.

We used Marco Accattatis for all our private transportation back in October. He not only picked us up at the Florence Airport, he also drove the group of 12 around Florence to different venues, took the group to Cortona, Cinque Terre, and other day trips. Highly recommend Marco. Marco has vans, busses, etc. Give him a shout. He was very reasonable and if your group divides the fee, it came out less for us that a regular taxi.

Based on my (admittedly limited) experience recently, It’s gonna be super expensive. You can google drivers “NCC Firenze/Pistoia” but you’ll probably need 2-4 vans.

Seriously, I’d just take the train. It’s reliable and quick.

Perhaps the organizers of the race can give you some advice since there are probably others who are trying to make the same or similar arrangements. It's worth an email to find out.
