Options for first day in Rome with luggage...

We arrive in Rome on a June Monday at 7:30 a.m. With our apartment check-in set for 3 p.m., we'll have a portion of the day trying to move about and sightsee with our luggage to consider. Our apt agency does not have any place for us to store it and early check in is possible, but we won't know until last minute. We're trying to decide whether to: 1)rent our apt for the night before our arrival so it is assuredly ours, 2) store our bags at the Termini station, or 3)choose some type of venue that isn't too stressful to have one bag per person along, e.g. finding a piazza table for lunch and people watching. Thoughts and recommendations?

Store you luggage at Termini. For that period of time it will be easy and cheap. Sometimes the lines are a little long but that is a matter of timing.

I agree with Frank. I've stored bags at Trenitalia stations, its easy to do and safe. Just don't lose the receipt tag!
