Planning a month in N Italy with a focus on Opera. Do you have experience with using a booking company vs using the official box offices? Convenience vs Costs. Some houses have short purchasing ranges, especially if buying individual tickets. Plus some have not even posted the season so hard to plan itinerary.
For sure La Fenice, Veronna, La Scala, hopefully, Bologna, Parma, Busseto. Suggestions?
I too am planning an Italian trip in late spring and was disappointed to find out that there would not be very many, if any, opera performances to choose from. According to some research, "opera season is generally October through March or April but outdoor performances are held in the summer". So, perhaps you could find some festivals that incorporate opera, but performances may be limited and you miss out on seeing the grandeur of the opera houses. With that said, we typically purchase tickets directly through the on-line box offices.
not sure if you will be visiting Florence, but check out St Marks - they hold opera "highlights" concerts. http://www.stmarksitaly.com/
