Opera in Verona

Hi,

We got our tickets for the Opera in Verona this summer. We did not get tickets with assigned seats so we are wondering how early we should get there. I believe doors open at 7, and the show starts at 9. Any suggestions from poeple who have been before?

When we went we also got unassigned seats. We arrived fairly early to make sure we could get a spot of our choosing. That said, there really are no bad seats. It does fill up though so get there well before 9. If you sit off to the side, rather than facing the stage head-on, you'll be closer to the performance.
If you're in the upper area, which I think you probably are since you have unassigned seating, you'll be sitting on the stone of the ancient arena so bring something soft to sit on. You can buy refreshments from people that walk around the seating area, kind of like an American baseball game, so you'll be able to get a snack and something to drink while you wait.
You'll love seeing opera in this venue! It's a unique experience in the musical world!

you are in for a wonderful experience! but do check out the early lines (more like crowds than people in real lines). it can get really hot on the stone steps so get some good padding (if you're going to more than one opera buy a cushion rather than rent at the Arena - they're too thin anyway). Getting there so early can turn into part of the fun. The sound in the Arena is excellent no matter where you are seated. My experience has been the cheaper the seats the more enthusiastic the audience!
