Open Jaw Air Travel from Las Vegas to Rome and Fort Lauderdale to Las Vegas

We're planning to take a Trans-Atlantic cruise this December. I'm having trouble finding reasonably priced open jaw fares from Las Vegas to Rome and Fort Lauderdale to Las Vegas. Our travel dates are depart 11/30/24 and return 12/22/24.

The best I can find on Delta is $14K apiece. Can't find an itinerary on American at all.

Is anyone else having a similar experience?

Thanks

Though a kayak search that EXCLUDES "basic economy" puts me on United for 5k, I bet there is some weird words in the fare class from there that makes a 1k trip on American (with basic economy clicked) jump those 4 thousand dollars.....I looked and I bet it was because British Airways offers one of the trips.....I would look on BA or American to see the particulars (that seems to not work on the aggregator site of Kayak), but it is possible!

And you're NOT crazy, I tried on AA.com and it was stumped....but kayak was a "hacker fare" as well.....

Cruise lines offer great pricing for air for Transatlantics. I'd start looking there first.

I would absolutely go with the cruise line there, you have more safeguards in place should you miss your cruise, but I hope you're going to arrive the day before at least!

I think the AA site isn't pulling up stuff because of the weird "one way" segments, I did two one way tickets on AA.com and it seemed to come to about 1200....

Have you looked at Google flights? I found several reasonably priced options there. I would add that to your search process.

You managed to find two holiday weekends (Thanksgiving, and before Christmas). I'm not sure how that may impact.

Carol's comment had me pulling google flights up, the "separate tickets" alert even when using the same carrier came up again (with the same carrier for the two journeys on kayak is was called the "hacker fare" because you had to book them separately).....and it had you going to the united (for $926) site and STILL booking them separately.....so I bet that because the arrival and departure cities are so VASTLY different, its technically just two one way tickets and won't even think of making it a "multi city" journey.

When I have looked at cruises that are one directional, I find one way tickets to be the better bet.
Use Google Flights or Matrix ITA to look at two one way flights. Open jaw from different continents often don't work affordably because they may not have partners to work with.

Delta has comfort+ for ~$3100 if you use Miami (MIA) rather than FLL for the homeward bound leg. Otherwise its the ~1$14k for 1st class

UAL has routings available in the low $5k range

Like you I found AA had no solution

I did a one way to Rome and a one way back from Fort Lauderdale in Delta Comfort+. Quote was about $1,600.

Wow.... one of those rare instances ( in my experience) where 2 one way tickets turned out to be the cheapest solution.
