I just bought two tickets from Venice to Rome on the Trenitalia website.... when I recieved the confirmation via email, I realized I had stupidly put my name as both passengers (Instead of my name on one, and my husbands on the other). Is this worth the panic? Do they check names with tickets? Is it possible to change the name on the ticket? Does this matter? Thanks in advance! Emily
After making dozens of reservations on Trenitalia over the years, I did this a couple of months ago, too. Not to worry! We have never been asked for ID in conjunction with the PNR. My husband was traveling alone with a reservation bearing my name, and the capotreno accepted his PNR "ticket" without pause.
I bought tickets months in advance using my name and my husbands name. Plans changed and my daughter went instead of my husband. No one questioned (5 different trains) or asked for ID. I don't think you have anything to worry about.
No, don't worry. It's pretty standard for a group ticket order to only use the "lead passenger" name. Tickets you buy at stations don't have names at all. They check your ID just to be sure that people aren't photocopying these e-tickets.
All they care about is if you have a valid ticket. They'll scan the bar code and that's that. They don't care what name is on the ticket.
Thank you everyone!!!
