Me and my wife are gonna be in Rome for a few days. The only day we can fit in the Colosseum is on the first free Sunday of the month. We wanna make sure we can get to see the Colosseum while we’re there. I’m sure the free Sundays can be incredibly busy. Does anyone have any advice on when we should get in line or any other options we can do to ensure we get in

I’d highly recommended switching your plans around and book your tickets for a day other than the free Sunday.
Enjoy your time in beautiful Italy!
Two years ago we were in Rome on a free museum day. At 8:00 AM the line for the Colosseum stretched from the entry past the Arch of Constantine and all the way to the entrance to the Palatine, where we spent the day. By evening the line was gone; whether everyone eventually got in or they just gave up is unknown.
