We are coming from Rome and I'm having a difficult time deciding which of these to spend the time in. Mostly interested in relaxing, enjoying the view food and wine. Then from there going to Montepulciano for some more! Please help me in deciding which would be best for the trip south of Rome.
after spending 5 days in sorrento, visiting capri and positano ( by boat, from sorrento) we would go back to sorrento in a flash. it was great as a destination and a base to see so much, both day and night. we haven't been to ravello or ishia, so can't comment on those.
With three days, Sorrento is probably best for seeing other sights (Pompeii, Ercolano, Capri). Hopefully you will have time to see the Amalfi Coast and Ravello, in the hills above the coast. I would choose either Capri or Ischia (I prefer Ischia for just relaxing), but not try to do both.
Two days in Sorrento
One day in Positano
I should point out that we will not really be seeing the "sights" (have done that before), only going there for the charm and view. One of you pointed out that Sorrento was good as a central spot to go see the sights. So if that makes a difference...........
It does make a difference, I would stay in Praiano or Ravello.
