Only 1 1/2 days in Rome

Thinking the first day go to the Colosseum and the Forum...full day on Friday, Vatican Museum (on our own..I think, will get tickets ahead of time online)St. Peters Basilica and Sistine Chapel. Possible? This is the end of our Italy trip, starting in Venice, then train to Florence and leaving out of Rome. Ten days and tried to decide how long to stay where, should have had a litte more time in Rome but it is what it is. Thanks

I think you'll be fine. With only a day and a half you are squeezing in as much as possible. Book entry tickets to the colosseum online before leaving to save waiting in line. You can only see the Sistine chapel by going through the museums so visit it first and then go into the basilica. Buy entry tickets for early in the morning to make the most of your day. http://biglietteriamusei.vatican.va/musei/tickets/do?weblang=en&do http://www.ticketclic.it/Gb/HTML/musei/colosseo.cfm Donna

The most efficient use of your time and the most informative would be to book a tour of the Vatican museum on line from home. You get a set time, pick a group size, get an English speaking art smart guide. 3 hours. Skip all the lines. We've done the Vatican museum twice on our own. Third time on a small 16 or 17 people tour. Understood heaps more of what we were seeing and had things pointed out that we'd not noticed before. Tour includes the Sistine Chapel and ends at St. Peters inside the entry point (more time saved). Some of the best money we've spent on vacationing in Rome, actually it was the best money we've spent in Rome!

Marie's advice is brilliant. Do what she says. :-) Happy travels.

Hi Pam from the Tri Cities. Agree completely with Michael and Marie. Some advice from an old Michigander...Try "Walks of Italy" and see if you can book what they call "Pristine Sistine".
Rick Steves approved. Have fun and GO BLUE.
