Online Tickets for Vatican museum and related sites

I am trying to buy online tickets for the Vatican museum and related sites for early November. As of this time (Sept. 1), the website is only accepting ticket purchases for September and October. When I checked this past August, the website was selling tickets three months in advance. Any suggestions about how to get tickets now?

Thanks.

Donna,

The Vatican is pretty good about making sure you're not booking too far in advance (I'm sure Donna from PA will help me out here if I messed that up - she's a wiz with all things Rome and Vatican related!) and I just checked myself so yes, no tickets yet for November. Check back in a couple of days, depending on when you want to go, and they will indeed open up. If you're like me and you want all the pieces in place sooner rather than later this is usually a test of my capacity to be patient and trust it will work out....although my computer browser will tell you I check often!
Good luck - I'm sure it will work out.
Safe travels!

They usually book about 60-90 days out. Right now it looks like they're booking through the end of October. Just keep checking. They should release more dates soon. This is the same for most sites so all you can do is check every day and book as soon as they become available. The good thing is that no one else can book either.

Thank you Lisa for the kind words.

Donna in PA - my mother spoke of you as if you were a close personal friend after we has an amazing tour of the Scavi and then again breezed through the hassles of the Vatican museum so thank you very much! We're headed back to Rome in October and we'll be thanking you again as we scored an evening admission to the museum.

Donna W - Donna brings up a great point - no one else is getting tickets so all will really work out. If you have time I'd highly suggest Donna's previous thoughts on taking the the Scavi tour. You will get that through the Vatican site and its a bit different in terms of booking because you tell them when you are available and they will honor you with a spot if possible, assigning you a time. They are tricky tickets to get and well, well worth it; please know this comes from someone who is not into such things generally but it was by far one of the highlights of my previous trip to Rome.

Wishing you a wonderful trip.

Lisa, let me know if there is anything you need help with. Have you looked at the Palazzo Valentini? It's a great site with a great tour. You may like it. I find it amazing and well worth the visit.

I don't know about November, but I am trying to buy tickets to the museum (on Sept. 2) for Sept. 22. The site shows availability for the time and date we want, but I have tried 4 times now and each time it says it's not confirmed and go back to vendor. I checked with the credit card company and the card does not show any action like denying a purchase. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Jinny,

I would suggest re-booting your computer and starting all over again. Sounds like the computer just needs to think it over (yeah, I know, computers aren't like that but sometimes a restart gets things moving in the correct direction!). I just tried and got pretty far but admit I didn't enter my credit card number. Have you asked your credit card company if they have a hold on your card due to the number of attempts? That has happened to me in the past.

Good luck and safe travels - Lisa

Your credit card company may be denying the charge if you haven't alerted them that you will be making a foreign transaction. I would call them and keep trying.
