How can I tell the website ticket offers are legit and my online ticket will be accepted at the tourist location? For example tickets to see the Vatican, Tuscany bus tours, colliseum etc.

I never thought about that too much. If the site was a fake, it take about 24 hours for everyone on the internet to know about it. I have never head of a problem in this area. Use a credit card and you will be covered if it is a fraud.

If you book with the official sites you won't need to worry about it too much. For the vatican museums tickets you can use: http://biglietteriamusei.vatican.va/musei/tickets/do?weblang=en&do For the colosseum you can use: \
http://www.ticketclic.it/Gb/HTML/musei/colosseo.cfm scroll down about halfway and use the "collect onsite" option for tickets or a tour. If you are taking a tour of Tuscany you'll need to do the research to find out about the tour company. Some are good and some are not. It's up to you to find out which is best for you. Donna
