Venice connected is offering multi tickets that are for transportation and for Museums. Has anyone done this online?
Appreciate your experience. The vaporrato tickets alone I think are worth it. This has been on this site before but I am not sure about this website.
Thanks
Pat
Venice Connected appears to be backed by the City of Venice. The transporation passes are a very good value and these should be the first thing you purchase. The tickets to the cultural evants can be optional although it's a good idea to buy them now instead of standing in lines with the cruise people.
What I was thinking that we will be there the Friday before the Regatta and it will probably be a mad house. Getting the transportation is a big one and if I read correctly the transportaion includes the islands ( Burano etc..but not Lido)

Pat - The passes include most land and water transport on ACTV. those would include the orange ACTV bus from/to the airport and the vaporetto system in Venice and the lagoon islands including the Lido. It won't cover the blue ATVO bus, the Alilaguna boats or the car ferry to the Lido.
Margaret -
Venice Connected passes are really handy to have. Just for the vaporetto's, it saves you a bunch. We used them constantly to just hop over the Grand Canal without having to walk to one of the bridges. (Vaporetto tickets are now, what, 6 euros a piece?). It speeds things up a bit at the sights as well, and if used enough, can save you a bunch.
However, if purchased here, you need to validate them upon arrival. This became a problem, because everywhere we went to do this, we were referred elsewhere. It certainly would have helped to know exactly where you should validate them. Turns out, at Piazzale Roma, where the auto traffic terminates and is just across a bridge near the train station, there are different types of ticket booths everywhere.
The RIGHT one to validate Venice Connected passes is the vaporetto ticket stand right next to the canal, and there, only the line on the far right validates them.
Individual vaporetto tickets are €6.50, so if you plan to take them a lot, a pass will save you money. That said, the vaporetti do fill up and you may have to wait for another boat. I would imagine that at Regatta time or Carnivale, one would spend a lot of time waiting for a boat when - if you're able - you could walk much more quickly.
Janis, you are right about probably easier to walk during the Regatta which I don't mind at all but it is getting to and from the Airport, to the Islands ( Murano, Burano etc..that I want to cover. And of coarse do a long ride down the canal with out any plans !!! But if I can't valadate it at the time of arrival when I get on that first boat to the Rialto ( where my B&B is ) well whats the point.
and what is the difference betwwen the different color tickets..blue, orange..boy I am confused
Pat
Pat = there is no difference in the passes. The color codes indicate the discount you receive based on when you buy.
You should be able to validate your PNR at the Hellovenezia office at the airport on arrival. You would then take the orange ACTV bus to P le Roma and then walk over the the vaporetto stop and get on the vaporetto.
