We have access to a week lodging in one of five locales and would like suggestions as to which area may have the most to offer. This will be a time of just kicking back and enjoying the local flavor of the area within a 30-50 mile radius. The five locales are: 1) Gavorrano, Grosseto 2) Punta Ala, Tuscany 3) Spezzano Piccolo 4) Soriano nel Cimino, Veterbo 5) Rocchetta a Volturno, Isernia. Any insights will be appreciated.

I'm not familiar with any of these towns but your post piqued my curiosity. I did a quick search and see that the first 2 towns are in Tuscany and the others are in Calabria (southern Italy at the very tip of the boot), Lazio (the region that Rome is in), and Molise (east of Rome).
Perhaps you might first decide which regions appeal to you to narrow down your choices. Once you have done that, you might post your questions on the specific town on the Trip Advisor forum.
Have you been to Italy before? If not, I'd probably suggest researching the choices in Tuscany first. Tuscany is a place that lots of people enjoy.
