We will be traveling to Venice approx June 14 to 22nd and are thinking Sunday to Wednesday in Venice, Thursday and Friday in Florence and then Saturday and Sunday on the Cinque Terra. We will be traveling to and from Italy by overnight train from Paris, as we are in Paris for a few days on business. We think 4 days to see Venice and area is enough, are we allowing enough time for Florence and CT? We would like to see some of the hill towns of Tuscany, so thought Florence would be a good city to go to for those two days. Should we do 3 days for Florence / Tuscany and one day for CT? Any thoughts?
My suggestion would be to reduce one day in Venice and add to one of your other locations. Leave the Cinque Terre at two nights, as one night won't allow much time to even have a look at the five towns.
Stephen,
Here are my suggestions:
- Consider flying from Paris to Venice instead of taking an overnight train.
- Since you only have 8 days, I'd spend 2 days in Venice & the rest in Florence with day trips to hill towns & CT.
- If you choose to stay in CT, it's a good idea to book your accommodations now as CT is very crowded in the summer months.
Will you be traveling via train or do you plan to rent a car while visiting towns in Tuscany?
Will you need to return to Paris or what airport are you flying out of ?

We will be flying in and out of Paris as our entry point to Europe (from Canada). We do not plan to hire a car while there, just use train or bus for the day trips. Will Florence be the best place to base out of to see the Tuscany region?

Yes, Florence is the capital of Tuscany & you may be able to visit some of the towns around it via public transportation.
You will want to give yourselves at least 2-3 days to explore the city of Florence then take day trips to nearby cities such as Siena, Lucca/Pisa, etc...
Since you will be flying home out of Paris, you will most likely want to spend the last night (before your flight) in Paris.
How many nights will you spend in Italy? 8 or 9?
EDIT: Here is a website you may like to explore regarding Tuscany: http://www.discovertuscany.com/
Stephen,
To maximize your time use Easyjet to fly from Paris Orly to either Venice or
Pisa (Cinque Terre) Fly back to Paris from either. Prices currently 42 euro
