4 ladies (middle aged) flying in to Palermo in August 2024. Will rent car. Think that Mondello would be a good place to home base, near a beach with umbrellas and transats. Budget $2500 for the week. Has anyone stayed in Mondello and have a recommendation for lodging and or day trips?

Mondello is a lovely small beach town. The Cathedral of Monreale and town is not far and that was well worth seeing. If you have a car or transit, the beach at San Vito Lo Capo and town was beautiful and the medieval town of Erice well worth seeing. You take a cable car up the mountain from Trapani to get there. Not far from Mondello we loved the town of Castellamare Del Golfo for dinner by the sea. Cefalu we also loved for the Norman architecture, seaside restaurants and beautiful town. We still dream of the food and wine there from our 2017 trip to Sicily, deliciouso!
