One way rental drop off in Venice - which is best?

We prefer to drop the car at Piazzale Roma, which is in Venice itself—-no need to take a bus from the airport or train from Mestre.

From Piazzale Roma it is easy to take a vaporetto to your hotel. Easier than boarding the vaporetto at the train station, which is very crowded.

The rental agencies are in the City multistory parking garage, the first you see as you arrive from the Ponte della Libertà (Liberty bridge) across the lagoon. Save the location in your phone.

Be aware that on the above bridge coming from Mestre there are multiple speed cameras that will issue tickets if you go just 5km/h above the speed limit. So be careful.

Unfortunately, my car rental choices on the Europcar consolitator site only allows Mestre Train station as closest option for drop off : (

It's far easier to get into Venice from Mestre station than the airport. Regionale trains run all day for 1.45EUR. Then you can either walk or take the vaporetto from Santa Lucia.
