One way car rental Varenna/Milan to Parma

Hi all, Will be in Varenna early September 2019 traveling to our base in Parma. Instead of public transport we would prefer flexibility of our own car (we are familiar with driving in Italy). Suggestions on car rental locations please! Varenna? or should we train to Milan and pick up car there? Car rental locations near Milan train station? Thank you all in advance :)

As Varenna is a tiny town without car rentals, it looks to me that going by train would be faster.
