One thing to do when you are "homesick" for Italy

Look at live videos of places you've been to or want to visit. Or just anywhere in Italy.

One favorite of mine is the small beach at Boccadasse (it's just soothing to watch the waves and the people and dogs ambling about). Also the courtyard of the pretend "Juliet's balcony" (a place we deliberately skipped when we spent a week in Verona) which I find hilarious: very conservatively dressed older women and very young boys and entire families and everybody else taking turns standing next to the statue and putting their hands on her well-polished breast. This goes on all day, every day.

The website for these live cams that I look at, Skyline Webcams, has been mentioned before on this forum several times, but not lately: https://www.skylinewebcams.com/en/webcam/italia.html

Remember the time difference so you're not looking at middle-of-the-night scenes.

Thanks, I forgot how enjoyable these are. It's like sitting in a free cafe and watching the world go by. Recommended for the souls who want to visit towns like Portovenere or Camogli in winter. The Pistoia, Tuscany camera is pretty good as it moves around and has decent resolution.

Yes, thanks for the reminder. I just went to look at the Pantheon.

Hi nancy,

I recently mentioned the skyline web cams to a few posters. Actually, I very often have given the link on threads for people to get a bird's eye view of Piazzas, attractions, crowding, position of attractions, etc.

I noticed you wrote that you have not seen the references lately. Probably you did not read the threads I happened to mention them.

I agree. Watching those from time to time is a great reminder and a very lovely incentive for someone to start planning a trip or a return to Italy.

Also, to new posters, I often suggest they watch The Roman Guy videos. They are helpful to new travelers and a refresher to others. Sean is one of the constant narrators. He is funny, down to Earth and has easy-to-understand vids - a good beginning.
