one overnight trip from Florence to Tellaro?

Hi,

I'll be staying a week in Florence and thought I'd like to take a trip mid-week to the coast; after much consultation on this site, I decided not to go to Cinque Terra, rather to go to Tellaro as I read about it on a blog and it sounds ideal for one night.....if anyone has been there, done this, can you let me know what it was like, is it worth it? It thought it'd be nice given that it is mid-June and Florence will probably be hot....is it easy enough to get there on the train as I have no car....thank you, Sandy

I usually start with Rome to Rio (always verify results) and Google maps. At first it looks daunting, but you need not go all the way to to La Spezia. I stayed in neighboring Lerici and I got off the train at Sarzana and had a private transfer, but I know there is a bus, with possibly a transfer required at Lerici, so a taxi would be money well spent. Ask your accommodation about a ride as well. I don't think our host even charged us. After a three hour train, definitely spend the money on a taxi to get there.
You'll be fairly stuck in Tellaro, but I can think of no better place to be stuck! The village itself is gorgeous, there are pretty beaches (mostly rocky), and peaceful hiking trails. We ate quite well in Tellaro and also enjoyed a lunch in Montemarcello at a popular sandwich shop.

Yes, I think it will be welcome quietness after being in Milan and Florence for a few days so I'm looking forward to it. I read a blog about it and all I want is the beach, the food and the quiet as I'm only there for one night. thank you for your help, I've also messaged the hotel to see if they can provide me with information.
