one open night in CT

We are planning on staying in Vernazza for two nights in September. We need to find a place to stay for one other night and are entertaining going up to Monterosso. Any suggestions on a place to stay there for a night or are there other suggestions for towns in CT? Will travel to Genoa the following day to get a hotel for an early flight the next day.

We just returned from a trip that included 3 nights in Monterosso. We stayed at Il Timone Loreto (the rooms by the post office). It was perfect. The rooms are located in the old town right next door to the post office. While the walk from the train station with backpacks was a little long - it was well worth it! It is just up the hill from many restaurants, shops, coffee bars, and the piazza. There is a private and public beach just steps from the piazza. The rooms were clean, well-priced, and safe.

Jules, I normally stay at Hotel Villa Steno in Monterosso, but I doubt you'll get a booking there in September. I normally have to contact them in about February or March for travel in September. You could also check their "sister" property, Hotel Pasquale. Other possibilities are Villa Adriana, La Spiaggia or Hotel Porto Roca (somewhat posh but nice if your budget will allow). You should be able to find something in Monterosso, but if not try the other towns. The Guidebook has accommodation listings in all the towns. You could also consider Levanto, as it's only about 5 minutes by train from Monterosso. Happy travels!

Last month we spent 2 nights at Albergo Marina in Monterosso. The room was a little tight, but overall the place is nice, and has a "beach town" vibe to it. Eraldo (the owner) makes great omelets for breakfast!

Why would you want to pack up your bags and take the trouble to check out of Vernazza only to have to checkin again in Monterosso and then unpack and repack for your 1 night? It's only about a 5 minute train ride from one to the other...

We have two nights in Vernazza that are right on the water. The room was not available for the third night. We may be able to find a spot there, however, either way we need to make a move. We are traveling super light so it is not really an issue. The location of the place on the water is something I want to experience. I appreciate all of the comments and suggestions. I will look into some of those places.

I have stayed at Mueble Agave in Monterosso. It is facing the beach near the train station. It has been a few years since I was there. It is probably best to reserve in advance or call around 10am to secure a room. Some of the rooms overlook the Mediterranean.
