I am planning on flying from NY to Rome and then back to NY from Barcelona. Would it be better to get one ticket that is NY/Rome; Rome/Barcelona; Barcelona/NY--
or get two separate tickets- one that is just NY/Rome; Barcelona/NY and get a separate ticket for the Rome/Barcelona part.
The costs seem high either way, also concerned about logisitics.

As a general rule open jaw ticket as a single ticket is mostly cheaper. However Rome is a pricey flight. Have you checked AerLingus airlines? This Irish airlines flies out of NY to Barcelona and Rome. they are having a sale and the fares look good.I have flown them from West coast and think they are vg.
Lisa the nice thing about the internet is that you can check it out several ways. Try kayak.com and do a multi city trip with all three on one ticket. then may be do the US legs on one ticket and then price the intra Europe one on a budget airline. Use www.whichbudget.com to figure it out.
