We have one night for Venice and would appreciate recommendations on where to stay and which train to take to Florence. Thanks!
Hotel Flora. Quiet location, lovely courtyard, short walk from boat dock. Not sure if they require more than one nights stay?
A bit off topic, but why just one night in Venice when you are spending a month in Italy?
I think you would enjoy it much more to stay at least 2 nights and have time to do more than just check-in/check-out of a hotel.
msgtrpy, you take the train that is at the most convenient time for you. Its like a subway, metro, or city bus system here in the states. You dont have to pick and choose like an airline.
If you have a journey of 3 hours or more to get to Venice just for one night; I would suggest at least three nights.
You can't really see anything in one night.
If you're only going to be there for one night, then you might as well stay near the train station. (S. Lucia). Since you don't mention your budget, look on booking.com. Filter for area, budget, other preferences.
Trains to Florence leave pretty much hourly. Pick the time that suits you. Buy in advance for discounted prices, but read up on restrictions.
