one night in rome before airport

We are staying one night in Rome before our flight home. We only really have a few hours there but, I wanted to make the most of our last day. Any recommendations of neighborhoods and/or hotels? We need fairly easy access to the metro for our flight at 3:30pm the next day.

Karin-
The metro doesn't go to the airport.
You'll want to stay close to Termini to catch the Leonardo Express to FCO.
Or stay anywhere in center and take a fixed rate cab- 50 euros.

How many are in your party?
Where are you coming from/how are you arriving in Rome? What time will you arrive?

We prefer anywhere near Pantheon/P Navonna/Campo de' Fiori.
But near Termini is fine as well.
Booking.com is a good place to look. Use the filters.

Stay in the Termini area -- convenient to the train with good restaurants. Hotels Sonya or Aberdeen are good choices. Two trains an hour and roughly 30 minutes.

we are coming from the Amalfi Coast and it's ( Rome) just a stopover before going home.

From another of OPs posts.

We also like to stay in near Palazza Navona. Take a taxi to the airport.

We overnighted in Rome in April after 2 weeks in Sorrento and stayed at Hotel Sonya which is about a 10 minute walk from the Termini. It's OK. It was a bit dated and the shower was tiny, but it was handy for an overnight stay before heading to FCO the next morning.

The night before we took a walking tour via https://www.througheternity.com/en/rome-tours/rome-evening-walking-tour.htm which started in Piazza Navona and ended at the Spanish Steps. The next morning we did a 20 minute walk to the Colosseum for a look before heading back to the hotel to grab our stuff and go to the airport.

Last October, I had one night in Rome, and stayed at the UNA Hotel Deco Roma. Comfortable, and it’s 2 blocks from Termini Metro and Train station. Restaurant right across the street from it, but others close as well.

Thanks everyone, I am so surprised how booked up Rome is for September?! Glad business is picking up for the tourism industry but disappointed to miss out on so many Rick Steves favorite hotels... next time. We found a place, it's just not that quaint.
