One night in Naples - where to stay?

Hi all,
I am spending a week on the Amalfi Coast in mid-June with my partner, staying in Sorrento as a base to explore the region. We will spend 6 nights in Sorrento but are planning to spend our last night in Naples as we have an early (6am) flight from Naples back to the UK the next morning.

I am just looking for some advice on where to stay in Naples, in terms of the best and safest areas and any reasonably hotel recommendations anyone may have?

We’d like something central, where we can spend the day exploring and shopping (or anything else in the recommend) and we would also like to within walking distance to restaurants so that we can pop out in the evening before heading back to our hotel for an early night ahead of our flight. If we can get somewhere with lovely views of Vesuvius or the like four our last night, that would be very special end to our holiday.

In terms of budget, we’d like something not too expensive with £120 per night being our absolute max.
Appreciate any advice anyone can give!

Thanks,
Anthea

Hi. :-) Three years ago, my college-age daughter and I stayed at the Hotel Il Convento at the edge of the Spanish Quarter. We found it very convenient to public transportation, restaurants, etc., and it felt safe, or at least no less safe than anywhere else--by which I simply mean that I was always concerned about pickpockets in Naples and throughout Italy. The hotel does not, however, have any of the good views for which you are looking. We stayed here for three nights. The mid-week rates look as if they may be within your range.

I always stay ( every year) before my flight home.. near the train station .at UNA hotel Napoli they are more like $145 on average when booking in Sept or Oct early booking but that is much higher in June..bummer...

I would check this out...about $84 US in mid June....The Hotel Clarean also in Naples Centrale area...I checked it out last year out of need for a bathroom on my way from train station...see reviews...it is literally 200 feet from the bus to the airport.. read reviews it seems that they have a sister hotel calle Hotel Eden around the corner as well.

I have had that early flight and being as close to public transport works best for me, if you are taking a taxi stay anywhere you want.
