What are the good places and good areas to stay in milan and catch the flight next. somewhere where we can stroll at night and get night time sightseeing done and grab some nice fast food without worrying. i am willing to spend like a 60 euros or so. Hotel would be great but i know apts are cheaper if not mistaken.

Anywhere in the Centro Storico (historical center) would be good. Milan is very safe, but in the historical center there is a larger choice of restaurants, cafes and things to do at night. Also you want to be close to one of the train stations (Cadorna or Centrale) to catch the Malpensa Express train to the airport. Both are in the city center You haven't specified which airport you are using (Malpensa MXP or Linate LIN), but if it's Malpensa, the airport is a distance away and the train (MalpensaExpress) is the fastest option (30 min. from Milan to the Malpensa station in front of the airport terminal 1). http://www.malpensaexpress.it/en/ If you are flying from Linate to another European hub first, the fastest option is a taxi (Linate is Milan's city airport, a European flights only airport, a business traveler's favorite given the proximity to the city center). I have serious doubts you are going to find a hotel in Milan for 60 euro a night only. You should budget at least 100 to 150 euro a night (Milan is Italy's financial and business capital, like NYC in America, and is very expensive).

we are going to linate airport 100 euro is fine too.
