One Day Wine Tour from Rome

Hi all -

I'm going to be in Rome for business and have one day free before having to leave and head home. We have a 10pm flight on Sunday March 22nd and want to use as much of Sunday as possible and we were thinking it could be fun to go to a bunch of wineries and if possible also get to check out some olive oil as well.

Any suggestions for tours or how to go about doing this? It's only going to be 2 people doing this trip.

Thanks in advance for your help!

A wine tour is not an option that we typically choose from Rome, maybe because they're more prevalent from Florence. Have you been to Rome before? Will this business trip allow time for city sightseeing on the earlier days? For an overview of sightseeing in Rome, see "At a Glance" at http://www.ricksteves.com/europe/italy/rome. Popular day-trips include train to Orvieto (1.25 hours each way, a hill town with wine tasting rooms) or local transport to Ostia Antica (Roman ruins similar to Pompeii).

The area of the Colli Albani, or aka Castelli Romani (Frascati, Genzano, Monteporzio, Grottaferrata, Velletri etc.) is a very famous wine producing area and it's very close to Rome. They are famous for white wines (but they produce reds too).
