Will be in Lake Como (Varenna) for 5 days. Would like to experience the Berninia Express train. Do you suggest going to St. Moritz or Pontresina. Would like to hear all travel options (train or bus) Thanks.

First, I would not worry about traveling on the named "Bernina Express" train, just go on one of those regular hourly trains that travel the same route. Now you could go only as far as Pontresina, have lunch, then take the next train back. Both these "regular' trains and the trains from Tirano to Varenna go every hour. The named "Bernina Express" has a mandatory reservation fee tacked on to the normal fare. Windows on the regular trains can be opened for better pictures. They are also much less crowded.
A longer itinerary, which someone just posted a few weeks ago, was to go all the way to St Moritz, then take a bus over the Maloja Pass to Chiavenna, Italy. At Chiavenna, take the train to Colico where it meets the train to Varenna.
