one day trip from Milan to Lake Como

My husband and I will be in Milan for 3 days and want to take a one day trip to Lake Como and maybe see Bellagio. I know we can take a train to Lake Como but wonder if anyone has taken a tour of some kind that they enjoyed.

I will be in Milan for one day in July and am also looking to travel to Lake Como. Am hoping to take a cooking class in Bellagio or somewhere nearby on the lake, with a view? :) Any recommendations?

Lecco is only 1 stop from Milan on the train. You can pick up the ferry there, or better yet, take the train to Varenna, one stop past Lecco. The ferry landing in Varenna is a very short walk from the train station, and with a mid-lake ferry ticket, you can visit some of the beautiful towns in that area, such as Bellagio and Menaggio.

It would help to know what time of year you'll be there and it depends on if you're looking to explore the lake or the town of Como. If you're looking for more of the lake experience, there was another person that mentioned taking the train to Varenna and then catching the mid lake ferry to Bellagio and Menaggio. This is a great way to experience a few towns while traversing the lake. If you want to stay in the town of Como, you can take the funicolare up to Brunate for a view (and possibly some food if you want.) I've rented a boat in the past (a little north of Como) and gone out for a few hours and really enjoyed piloting around the lake. It looks like there are some boat rental companies in Como as well (the may not let you go out if it's really windy though). There are some neat "experiences" you can book on airbnb depending on the area you want to be in. Just make sure you don't miss the last train home! I almost did that once. Have fun!!
