One day left

Hello travelers! We are in Siena now and leaving on Monday morning to head down to our hotel outside of ROME for a flight on Tuesday. Any favorites between Siena and Rome to suggest for our last afternoon? No need to see another walled city though!

I like Montepulciano if you haven’t been there, yet. It’s a fun town to explore and have a nice lunch!

Susan,
Consider going to Orvieto and check out their magnificent cathedral, take an underground tour of this ancient city, enjoy a delicious meal, and end your visit with a creamy gelato.

Please report back and share your trip with us,

Enjoy the rest of your trip!

Another vote for Orvieto. When my husband saw my photos of the cathedral, he said Wow.

By car, bus or train? Unless it is by car, almost any extra stop will dramatically increase your travel time over a direct train to Rome plus however much time you spend in your stop. It looks like most recommended stops are walled cities.
By car, Orvieto, AssisI, Bagnoregio or any other Tuscan Hill towns could all be interesting according to various guidebooks. By public transport, no suggestions.
I’m sure that I could find a part of Rome that I haven’t explored and just enjoy my last afternoon / evening before braving the airport and any long flight. That is what we will be doing at the end of October.

Take the SP2 from Siena. Towns along the way, Radicofani, Acquapendente, Bolsena, Montefiascone, both on Largo Bolsena, Viterbo ,and Bracciano on Largo Bracciano.

It’s a beautiful drive. None of these towns are large, pick one or two.
