I want to thank everyone for helping me decide on a hotel near the airport for my one day in Venice with my family.
I’ll be arriving in Venice in the morning, dropping my luggage off at the hotel, and we will catch a bus/taxi to Venice Island.
We do not have much time. We need advice, what is a must see and eat in Venice?
With just a portion of a day, I wouldn’t worry about seeing any sights. Just wander through Venice. You can take a bus or taxi to Piazzale Roma. From there you can take a vaporetto (water bus). Get a day pass so multiple trips are covered. Take the vaporetto towards San Marco. Explore the area, wander away from the square, have lunch, have gelato. Take a gondola ride. Wander some more. Check out St. Marks square after dinner. Take the vaporetto back to Piazzale Roma, then the bus/taxi back to the hotel.
