One Day In Tuscany

Hi Everyone,

Me and my fiancee are arriving in Florence on Sunday afternoon (1/15) from Milan and plan on walking around the City working off the jet lag on Sunday. Since the museums are closed on Monday, we thought we might get out of the City and head to Sienna or, alternatively, Lucca and Pisa for a day trip. We plan on doing the museums in Florence on Tuesday and leaving for Rome on Wed. morning.

Can anyone suggest a good day trip for Monday or comment on what we were considering? We do not have a car.I have been to Florence before, my fiancee has not. Thank you!
Mark

We loved Siena -- it would be a nice day trip. You can take a bus there from Florence.

Either of your two proposed day trips would be good. Siena is especially tempting, given the ease of getting there by public transport from Florence: bus or train with many favoring the bus as more efficient (to Siena, I mean). If you try to go somewhere, such as the Tuscany hill towns, that are not served by regular train service, it's going to complicate your Monday, complication for no good reason when the Siena option exists.
