One day in Lake Como

Hi! We're staying 2 nights in Varenna in October. It's our first time to Lake Como. Any suggestions on how to maximize one full day? We're thinking of taking a boat tour through Taxi Boat Varenna. Anyone ever use that company? The reviews seem great.

We're also thinking of having the boat tour company drop us in Bellagio that afternoon and then we'll take a ferry back to Varenna.

We have traveled the entire lake by ferry when we have stayed on Lake Como. Why not take a ferry? Take one to Lenno and walk out on the point to Villa Balbianello. Get on and off the ferries as you wish.

Lenno does have a small but very nice square, with Villa del Balbianello close by. But with only one day, it is easy to take up your time with Varenna and Bellagio. Both villages are pretty and have a number of villas/gardens between them - Villa Melzi, Villa Monastero,
Villa Serbelloni.

We have used the Varenna Taxi Boat and loved It! We took the mid lake tour which also included the trip and tour of Villa Balbianello. This taxi boat will bring you back to Varenna where you can take the cheap ferry to Bellagio. However, the young men who navigate the taxi boat are very accommodating. They would probably be happy to drop you off at Bellagio. Inquire ahead of time!

Thanks Gunderson + Suki for your thoughts and advise. Hi Barb! Thanks for your input. We are definitely leaning toward booking a tour with Taxi Boat Varenna. I've read so many great reviews.
