This will be our second trip to Italy, but first time in Florence. We only have one day there and want to make the most of it. What are your recommendations? Thanks in advance.
All our grandkids loved seeing Michelangelo’s “David”, a big wow! There is a Galileo museum
which might be perfect for them too.
Climb to the top of the Duomo. Tickets are required.
The David was the most amazing thing we saw in Florence (it's much larger than you realize), but hard to say what I would've appreciated at 13 :)
I'm not sure that I would have appreciated the David at that age as much as I do now, but I would be glad later to say - hey, I was there and saw that!
I'd consider seeing David and climbing to the top of the Duomo. I also enjoyed putting a coin in the mouth of the pig statue (Il Porcellino) and rubbing its nose at the market. Overgrown child. What can I say? ;-)
Gelato. Lots and lots of gelato. In between gelato courses, eat lunch at Mercado Centrale on the second floor, where they can walk around and choose food from various vendors.
The Science Museum with Galileo's finger.
Great thank you all. How about the Uffizi? So far I’m thinking the Academia, duomo and possibly Uffizi. Just not sure if the kids would hate it.
My teen nieces were just there, they loved the Duomo and climbing to the top.
Quick question for those who have gone to The Uffizi gallery and the academia museum. Do you the tickets that you buy online ahead of time ensure that you will skip the line?
Pretty sure they will hate the Uffizi.
Even if it wasn't crowded, which it is, and didn't have extra- dense crowds of people in front of every famous work of art. We spent most of a day in the Uffizi one December and loved it, but we love medieval and Renaissance art. During tourist season I can hardly imagine trying to whisk two kids through it after already doing two other major things.
I second the previous ideas of gelato, the big market, and especially the science museum.
We only have one day and want to see as much as possible. We have a choice of doing the Walks of Italy walking tour which is 3 hours and can see David at Acadamia, the outside of the Duomo and Ponte Vechio, or..... going to the Acadamia, climb Duomo, and then finish at Uffizi. Are the pre-bought online tickets to the Uffizi gallery and the Academia museum ensure that you will skip the line? Thanks in advance.
