I would like to rent a one bedroom apartment in Venice and Florence located in a quiet, safe area. However, I am allergic to goose down (feathers) often used in pillows , comforters and cushions. Therefore, I need to be sure the apartment provides polyester-filled or down alternative pillows and comforters. I would appreciate suggestions for how to deal with this issue.
This is a singular and specific request. I would suggest finding apartments you like and then contacting the apartment owner/agency directly and asking about the bedding. I like using airbnb.com and vrbo.com to search for apartments.
In Florence I have used http://www.acaciafirenze.com. Diana is very helpful and easy to work with.

We are traveling in Italy for 3 weeks and have used AirBNB and everything has been great. Our favorite place was in Florence - it was beautiful and near the Duomo too. I am allergic to feathers and have not had a problem. I believe AirBNB gives the owners a recommendations on feather pillows etc.
Patricia,
I recently books holiday apartments in Venice, Florence and Rome through TripAdviser. The process and experience was great. You initiate contact with the property owner/manager via TripAdvisor and you will have plenty of opportunity to ask questions such as the use of hypoallergenic furnishings.
By the way, many of the properties listed on TripAdvisor also accept payment via PayPal and come with a rate guarantee.
Good luck and happy travels.

I recently used cross pollinate to rent an apartment in Venice. I'll definitely use them again,
