Omnia Card in Rome

Maybe I've made a mistake, but we purchased an Omnia Card for our stay in Rome. Their website says you can book tours online, but I have not been able to do so. Who is Omnia Card and is it really a good deal?

Also, I have tried to communicate with Coopculture about using the card in conjunction with the colosseum underground tour and can't seem to get a response. Can I just buy the tour ticket from them and use the Omnia Card for the entrance?

I would seriously try to return the omnia card. It's too overpriced and you can't possibly use it enough to get value out of it in just 3 days.

For the colosseum, most of the underground tours are already sold out for the end of the year. You can check online and book online if you find a date available. Entry tickets and tours are all sold separately so you could use the omnia pass with the underground tour if you can get on one.

This is Omnia Pass:

It's a combo of a Roma Pass plus some additional entries at the Vatican, and is good for 3 consecutive days.* (see note at bottom)

Like Donna, I think this is a very poor value and would highly recommend against the purchase. Read the fine print carefully as aside from the Vatican, you only get free entries to two out of 6 of the most visited listed sites in Rome, some small discounts of others, plus some Roma Card transport benefits...which we would not have used enough to make the pass worthwhile. It also covers a hoho bus tour that I also don't recommend as complaints about the quality/service of the buses have been many.

At a quick glance (I didn't check every single attraction, sorry), it only covers some tours at the Vatican, and those are explained in the website...such as on this page for St Peter's Basilica:

https://www.romeandvaticanpass.com/rome-attractions/st-peters-basilica.html

"NOTE: Tours can be pre-booked when you collect your Omnia Pass from the redemption centre. Visitors must go to the ORP office at Piazza Pio XII, 9, 15 minutes before the scheduled tour time."

I see that the Borghese is included on the list? If intending to use the pass for entry there, you must still make pre-reservations, and do it by phone.

"For reservations to the Borghese Gallery and/or Domus Romane/Palazzo Valentini, please call +39 06 32810 (open Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm – Saturdays, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm). Bookings can be made directly from the visitor’s home country, even before purchasing the card. Please note: it is not possible to make an online reservation without prepaying the ticket. If you intend to visit the museum / site with your Roma Pass 72 Hours or Roma Pass 48 Hours, you must make your reservation on the phone, by calling +39 0632810."

For some other attractions, it looks to include audio tours (no 'live' guide) which need no pre-booking.

  • This is confusing as the Roma Pass is good for 72 consecutive hours - not three days - from first use. The Ominia site states "The cards run on a consecutive three day basis. If you activate your card on a Monday that will be included as the first day and your last day will be Wednesday."
