Olive Harvest

My husband and I will be staying in Tuscany from Nov 2 – 6th. Here at home we live on a farm and would LOVE to experience Olive harvest. Unfortunately, Olive harvest at out Agritourimso, La Crociona " will already be complete. Does anyone have other Farms they recommend that has Olive trees and would potentially be harvesting? We are staying in the Montalcino area but are willing to travel to other areas.

Thank you very much!

Wouldn't all the harvesting of the olives be done at more or less the same time in Tuscany? At any rate, why don't you ask your agritourismo people about this?

Olives are harvested depending on the variety. At LeCaggiole in Montepulciano, he was not going to harvest until mid Nov. We were shocked as to how many grapes were still on the vine last week when we were there(not LeCaggiole, but elsewhere). Depending on where you are going, it should be no problem to find a farm to tour. Jeff

April,
Check out Agriturismo Cerreto near Pienza, which is close to Montalcino. My husband and I stayed there from Sept. 29-Oct. 3. Monica, a lovely woman who runs the family B&B, said the Bai family and sometimes guests, harvest olives from the 1,000 olive trees on their farm in November.
We were lucky enough to be there when Gianni, Monica's husband, and Umberto, her father-in-law, were bottling their wine, and Gianni offered my husband and me each a glass. Fruity, full-bodied and smooth. We bought four bottles of wine and two bottles of olive oil, and Gianni gave us another bottle as a gift. I can't wait to taste them, but I'm waiting to share with family and friends around the holidays.
You can find more information about Agriturismo Cerreto's Web site. Just Google it.

April,
I forgot to mention that while staying at Agriturismo Cerreto, I discovered that parts of "The English Patient," were filmed in nearby Pienza and Sant' Anna en Camprena, which is just up the road from Cerreto. Also, Juliette Binoche stayed at Cerreto while filming. Just an interesting side note for movie buffs.

The olive harvest is in October. You will most likely miss it.
