Official Vatican Tours anyone tried?

Someone here mentioned that the vatican has official tours. I checked out their website and they look good, and the prices are quite reasonable. Has anyone tried this? Is it an enjoyable tour? How large are the groups? Thanks in advance, Dave

I found the tour very enjoyable. Our guide had a Ph.D in Art history and she gave a lot of interesting background information. It's not as comprehensive as some other tours like Through Eterntiy, but I would highly recommend the tour--- and of course you are free to explore the other collections on your own after the tour.

Maggie, Thanks. Would the guide you had be appropriate for a 13 year old? Also, how many people were on your tour? Thanks, Dave

Hi Dave, I've done the Vatican sponsored tour several times with different friends and family members. They are very good tours and give enough information to keep you interested but not so much that you get bored. I took my daughter on the tour when she was 10 and she really enjoyed it. She was able to ask the guide specific questions when she had any. We travel from October to March-slower season- so the groups I've been in have never been more than 15. You get headphones so it's very easy to hear the guide. Donna
