My husband and I will be a week in Florence--my 2nd time there, his first. Any suggestions of must-see sights, besides the many churches and well-known art museums? We're also planning a day trip to either Siena or Asissi.
Thanks!

Lucca or Pisa are only an hour and a half by train. The Boboli Gardens are beautiful, but be prepared for an uphill walk. Altano has many places of interest...just walk and you will stumble across a little delight. I have learned the delights of slow travel in Italy. It is amazing how quickly a feeling of calm and serenity envelopes.
Since you're there a week, spend at least one evening, at dusk at Piazza Michelangelo.
There's a small cafe there. Get a bottle of wine and watch the sun set over Florence! You're looking directly down into the city from the highest point. The view of the Ponte Vecchio and the late afternoon sun reflecting off the domes of Firenze is enchanting.
Our favorite restaurant there is Il Latini! It's a little touristy now but always fun
