My husband and I are staying in Sorrento October 11 - 17, 2025. We have been to Amalfi Coast before ( 2013) but missed going to Ravello. Planning for a day trip to take the earliest ferry to Almafi, bus up to Ravello, and return by ferry to Sorrento.
I see from listed ferry schedules they only post departure/return times for one current week at a time. Going by this week's example, the earliest ferry from Sorrento to Amalfi is around 9:00 am and latest returns from Amalfi are around 3:00 or 5:00 pm (subject to change, due to weather etc.) I'm thinking booking ferry tix will be doable once we arrive (the day before or so) and don't need to be done in advance at this point, as weather conditions could cause us to reschedule for another day.
Does anyone know if we will we have similar ferry schedule during our stay? I much prefer the mode of ferry to and from Sorrento rather than the bus, which runs more frequently but takes twice as long and would be less pleasant (for us at least, we like the water view by far).
Including our travel time to and from Sorrento, if we leave on the earliest ferry (according to current schedule examples) and return on the 3:00 ferry, will we have time to go to both Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufello and have a nice lunch at Ristorante da Salvator (do we need reservations)? --as an aside, RS notes a "sublime cafe" at Villa Cimbrone...anyone tried this?) Is it risky to wait for the last available ferry (if that is a more realistic timetable) to do what I've described? Don't want to get stranded....
I am also booking 2 Mondo tours: one to Pompeii and one to Capri, which I will reserve soon so as to get a spot for early in our stay in case weather results in cancellation(s), giving us perhaps a chance to re-book those tour(s) for a later day that week. Hoping they'll be accommodating and there will be enough takers to go on the tour(s).
Any input is most welcome!
