All Ideas suggestions Advice
April v May v June?
I started this post by flying into Rome and out of Venice. Possibly Sept October I liked the ideas of longer days in the Spring.
The flight to Munich allows us to have have non-stop and premium economy seats from Philadelphia. Also our goal to explore lakes and northern Italy
Has anybody ever taken the drive or trip from Munich to Italy?
Is that reasonable or google earth says it takes 5-6 hours. Of course we will take slow drive and enjoy Germany before entering Italy
Love to hear some ideas
Thanks
Greg
April and May have longer days and most lodgings are open for the season. October can be warm and pleasant, but November starts to get cold with shorter days and many lodgings may be closed. The cities around Bologna (Parma, Modena, Ferrara and Ravenna) are all very pleasant and worth extended stays.
Try to look at folk festivals of some kind for a more cultural experience. For instance I go to long running outdoor music festivals all over Europe during the summer. My sister has friends that participate in local races where they travel. Take some kind of a cooking class
hey greg
a few years back we went to the "festa del uva de vino" (festival of grape and wine) in bardolino on lago de garda. end of september/first of october. fun times on the lake with wine, food, music, fireworks. rented at hotel nettuno.
white truffle fair in alba october to november, (fieradeltatartufo.org), the town of barolo, alba, asti. wine festivals, wineries, great food, away from the crowds. something totally different and seeing northern italy. happy travels

You're not getting the car for Rome or Venice, right? (Not advised). I suggest doing it the other way around, fly into Venice and out of Rome. I was last in Italy late October-early November 2016 and it was quite warm (your mileage may vary).
