Airport handlers are striking Oct 19-20. We land at 0900 on the 20th (EWR-Venice). We absolutely cannot fly another day because we’re catching a cruise. I’m so worried we’re going to be cancelled and miss our cruise.

Will larger airports like Milan be open? I suggest carryon only. IMO, I would dump whatever I was doing and get on a flight on October 19th, gives you more options to take a train to final destination. If not, Ljubljana Slovenia looks like the closest airport outside Italy, just a thought, maybe that would work instead. Then you could take a train to Venice. And worse comes to worse, what's the second port of call for your cruise, if you miss your flight you could rebook to that city.... Gosh no fun, good luck! We just finished RS heart of Italy, in Siena now heading to Rome for flight Friday, we didn’t want to risk Friday strike so rescheduled to Saturday. Fingers crossed.

Our flight to Venice was cancelled. We had to cancel our cruise. Guess it wasn’t meant to be.

Thank you. We received refunds for everything. It’s not all bad. We’ve decided to go visit our son in Wyoming. Might as well make lemonade!!
