NYE in or around Milan

Hi everyone,

My wife, mother and I will be travelling in northern Italy for the holidays this year (assuming covid doesn't take a turn) and will be in Milan for new years. I'm wondering if anyone has advice for how to celebrate beyond strolling the piazzas/dinner reservations. We'll be lodging in the navigli for our time in Milan so would probably keep to that neighborhood if we stay in town.

Alternatively we're planning a day trip to lake como(even worth doing in the winter?), and had considered doing so and staying the night in either Verena or Bellagio for NYE. Do these towns typically turn out for new years celebrations or are they largely shut down? Might Como be a better place to stay/celebrate following a visit to the lake towns, given it's larger size? Thanks!
