NY Eve in Italy

Hi All.. great forum.. much more info then TA.

I am planning on stopping on my flight back from India to the US in Italy for about 5 nights, and spend NY Eve in Italy.

Most likely arriving Dec 27, and departing Jan 1 ( if we can wake up :) )

I don't want to rush thru 5 cities, but just enjoy a few days exploring, eating, enjoying.

Many friends mentioned, Rome / Venice , Rome/Florence, Florence/Genova.

Any suggestions from the forum ? Including where to fly in/out ?

Assuming this is a 1st time in Italy, I would fly into Venice, spend 2 nights, spend other 3 nights in Rome and fly to US from there

I would consider staying in Rome the whole time. Since it is a layover and not you final destination. More flight options. So many things to see and do for just a few days. You could still easily day trip to Florence or Naples. Plus, it's NYE!! It's like New York or Paris or Sidney, you have to be there for NYE!! Also, do the Ponte Cavour bridge jump into the Tiber (or maybe just watch)!! Sounds like a fun layover....
