NTV - new train transportation in Italy

I'd like to purchase tickets from the US for travel from Roma to Firenze round trip. 1. I'm not clear from the website if I can purchase tickets online. 2. Looks like train travels from Firenze to Rome, but not Rome to Firenze. 3. I need help determining travel options from Roma Termini to Ostiense --one of the two stations provided as options to go to Firenze. Roma Termini is not one of the stations.

Take line B - subway. But why are you there?

1. Use trenitalia.com and you can purchase on line. 2. There are about 53 trains a day between Florence (Firenze) and Rome, both ways. 3. You use public transit for Ostiense. Take Metro line B to
Piramide and switch to Rome-Lido train to Ostiense. All on one subway ticket. The new train service is just getting started. Stay with the old. It will work very well.

The new train is called Italo. Here's the link. http://www.ntvspa.it/en/nuovo-trasporto-viaggiatori/254/3/high-speed-railways-italy-city-time-frequency-travel# I don't see any opportunity to purchase tickets on the website at this time but the website does say that you can purchase tickets at each of the stations. The train does travel both ways between Rome and Florence. The new Italo train does not stop at Rome Termini. It does stop at Rome-Tiburtina and Rome-Ostiense. To get to Rome-Tiburtina from Termini, go downstairs to the metro and take the Metro Line B to Rebbibia. Tiburtina is the 4th stop. For Ostiense, take the same Metro Line B in the opposite direction to Laurentina. Ostiense is the 4th stop. Note that the new Italo train does not accept the Eurail pass at this time. Neither does the new Thello night train between Paris/Milan/Venice.

Roxana, If you purchased tickets on Trenitalia, your train will most likely be departing from Roma Termini. Therefore there's no need to go to Roma Tiburtina. Cheers!

Since you bought ticketsfor tremitaila already, this is a bit late but you can buy ticket online for the new company. I already did. The trains started to run on April 28 - tickets were available online starting April 14 or so. The website is available in English. Tickets are available on the spot as you print the screen with the ticket code on it as you soon as you buy your ticket on line. The Tibertina station is the one being used in Rome. In Florence it''s the same station as trenitlia (Santa Maria Novella) they are running two trains a day between Florence and Rome - one in the morning and one in the afternoon, but they are planning more. You have to keep checking the schedules. www.italotreno.it pick english on the top left
