I just found out from several reliable sources that starting March 5th the Roman Forum is no longer free. It will be officially announced next week. There will be a combo ticket for the Colosseum, Palatine & Roman Forum. The main office/entrance is on largo Corrado Ricci It will also count as a place on the Roma Pass as well.
It's surprising that they are only now starting to charge for the Forum. The new charges will take effect just in time for the 2008 tourist season.
Rick's books recommend buying Combo tickets at the ticket office on Palatine Hill, as it's usually less crowded (which is the method I used). I'm assuming this is still the case?
Thanks for the info.
Thanks for your posting. I had planned to go to the Roman forum but not the Coliseum. Do you suppose that one could buy a ticket for just the Roman forum? Any idea how much a ticket like that or the combo ticket might cost? I couldn't find any information about this when I was on the site for the Roma pass.
I, too, am interested in learning how much the combo ticket for the Colleseum, Forum, and Palatine Hill will cost. Does anyone have any information on this?
Thanks a lot!
The price of the ticket will be 11e and included in a combo ticket of the Coliseum/Palatine. While I appreciated the free admission to the Roman Forum we have to realize that it costs money to maintain such magnificent sights.
The Forum Romanum is not worth any admission fee. It is interesting to see to some but there are so many other places to see and visit ín Rome than just that one location! All my pictures from my trip to it show people traveling with me much, much more than actual sights on that forum. It's a collection of runis.
I agree with Andreas but the Colosseum is worth seeing and if it is combination ticket joining with Palatine hill its worth seeing.
