We will be traveling from Naples to Civitavecchia for a cruise on Nov 10. When checking the website for planned strikes, it says there is one scheduled for that day in Campania. But I can't tell if it stops the trains or if it is just a portion of the company that is striking. Should I still buy tickets? Would there be some warning listed on the company website? Just trying to get a handle on what to expect. Thank you for any advice!
I can't help you specifically with your question but I am in Amalfi now and was heading to maritalia on Friday November 8th. Yes there was going to be a strike, no there was not going to be a strike in my area, yes there was just going to be a bus strike, no train strike! My hotel had no availability if I wanted to stay the night and travel on Saturday, the fairies were running so I could at least get to Salerno, but all in all it seemed like a mess! Since I already had a train Italia ticket from Salerno to marataya, and I have an account with train Italia I called a number that they have specifically for questions about the strike. I don't have it at the moment but I'm sure you can find it and it also tells you that option one is in English. It turned out that the train Italian strike was on November 5 and there is only going to be a bus strike for me on Friday November 8th but again I can take the ferry. My suggestion is try to call the train company. There is also train Nord and Italo so you are not limited by one train company. Good luck
