We just arrived in Venice last night. November 1 is All Saints Day and many sights will be closed. Any suggestions for the day?
All the museums will be open, just avoid an islands tour or grand Canal tour with public transportation ( vaporetto) as there will be very long queue everywhere and they will be overcrowded.
Walk in most any direction away from the crowds. Then just stroll, and stroll. Before you know it, you will be in areas almost by yourself. Then you can experience the real Venice sights and restaurants.
In addition to all the great suggestions in the other replies, to wrap up your day of strolling, consider a baroque music concert at the long-deconsecrated church of San Vidal or perhaps a lively jazz concert at Venice Jazz Club.
Venice is great for just wandering around. Enjoy!
It was insanely busy in Venice. On November 1 we went to some less visited areas and November 2 took the train to Padua for the day. All went well and we had a wonderful time.
