Noto, Sicily

Hi there, for those of you who have visited Noto, Siciily, I'd be curious to hear what you liked about it--including specific attractions/landmarks, restaurants, markets, etc.

How did it compare with other nearby towns in eastern Sicily? Would you visit again?

Thanks/Grazie!

If you like Baroque architecture you should go. The most famous landmark is probably the cathedral. If you don’t have a car and stay in Siracusa you can also reach it with public transportation. All towns in the Val di Noto are famous for their baroque architecture so they will have similarities. Noto, Modica, Ragusa Ibla, Scicli, also Siracusa itself, have a lot of baroque architecture. If you have a car and more than one day at your disposal, you can visit them all easily.

When we visited Noto we were staying near Catania and had a rental car. To me, it has no wow sites and we enjoyed just walking around looking at buildings and stopping for a pastry. I think we visited there for about 3 hours.

We went there for the day from Siracusa on the train and returned by bus.
It was a sunny day in April, so all the buildings looked so lovely in the light.
The Cathedral is worth a visit, then we wandered up and down some of the streets off the main one.
Lots of cafes and places to eat lunch.
While not spectacular, it is definitely a nice place to spend a day.
