Norwegian Air service between LA - Rome- LA

We are planning to fly non-stop from LA to Rome and return during May on Norwegian. Anybody have recent 2019 or 2020 experience with Norwegian Air on this route?

I am mainly concerned about flight cancellations or aircraft substitutions. I’ve read that the 787 Rolls Royce Trent 1000 engine problems are recurring and that Norwegian has had to hire backup wet-lease planes to fly some of the 787 routes. Has Rome been one of the affected routes? If so, how was the substitute plane?
Thanks

PS- I’ve emailed this question to the airline, however no response.

Norwegian has mostly leased spare long haul planes from HiFly and Wamos air, so the substitute planes are usually A340s and A330s.

Badger,
Thanks...very helpful. I checked HiFly and Wamos seat charts at seatmaestro. Hopefully, the substituted aircraft would have comparable or better seating.

Do you have any idea how far in advance Norwegian Air advises passengers of aircraft switches for the Trent 1000 special maintenance? Because of the nature of the problem, they should be able to plan the downtime months in advance.

I read Norwegian's quarterly investor call transcript and they estimate that about 10 of their 37 787's will be out service for these special inspections/maintenance work. That's a lot of the fleet. And, I think they meant about 10 throughout the year.

I recently flew from LAX to Madrid on Norwegian and flew home from Rome .No issue or problems boarding was not very pleasant in Rome ? Not sure why the lady at the counter was just not nice (simply put) . That being said I have flew from LAX on Norwegian several times as have a acquaintance who uses Norwegian to go to Denmark every year (she highly recommended the to me!) I wouldn’t worry about it , I’m planing on returning to Italy in September and I’d use them again! I do not hear very positive things about Airitalia ??

If they swap the plane after you buy a ticket they will let you know and give you the option of a refund or to keep the ticket on Wamos. They informed us 3 months in advance. It turned out that the Wamos plane was less comfortable and outdated compared to the 787's Norwegian used when I took them on 3 other flights.
