Northwest of Lucca by train/bus??

We are flying into Pisa and heading to Lucca for two days and want to explore that part of Tuscany but cannot find much info on it. Anyone been to that region and ways to get around without a car? Looking to get to north and west of Lucca/Lucca Di Bagna. Thanks!

Trains and buses run up and down the Val del Serchio on regular schedules. It would not be difficult to visit Bagni di Lucca. The bus would most likely get you closer to the center of town and facilitate the visit.
